"Painting is a language beyond words that articulates the human spirit."
I seek a spiritual essence through my art. Abstraction using geometric shapes is the basis of my current work, which I call Ethereal Geometry. Geometric shapes form an ancient symbolic language and act as a bridge between the physical and the spiritual. Painting with this language allows me to create works that are metaphors of the human spirit. My intent is to exalt the spiritual and echo this sensibility in the viewer. Aesthetic considerations of harmony, balance and rhythm are always foremost in my mind when I create a painting.
Currently you will find two Ethereal Geometry paintings on the gallery site: Gentle Geometric and Moondance. More images to be posted soon.
I work primarily in oil, acrylic and watercolour. My art training includes studio programs and art history courses at Carleton University, the Ottawa School of Art, Sheridan College and the University of Guelph. My first and most influential teacher was Larry Halpin, a member of the Art Students League of New York. He gave me a firm grounding in classical techniques which form the basis of my work.
